Juice+? Herbalife? Atkins? Weight Watchers? Intermittent Fasting? Paleo? No Carbs after 5pm? Vegan? The list goes on and on!
Well here goes..
It’s a really new diet called the ‘eat less calories than you burn’
Joking aside all these other diets which are forever increasing are purely just methods of eating at a calorific deficit whilst most put unnecessary stress on your body and mind.
We all have that one friend who raves about a juicing diet because they lost 1 stone in 10 days. I don’t think starving yourself for 10 days and putting your body into starvation mode is a ‘healthy’ way to lose weight. I bet they are the same person who puts that weight back on twice as quick as they lost it and then try another amazing starvation diet and the cycle repeats itself!
Not only is this unsustainable it also puts strain on your internal, vital organs.
What I recommend for my clients is to calculate their total daily energy expenditure (TDEE). From there we can figure out how many daily calories they need to be eating/drinking to achieve their goals focusing on longevity and not just a quick fix. It is easy to track this using the free App MyFitnessPal.
It’s a very simple theory really.
If you include daily exercise into your routines you will be surprised at what you can eat whilst achieving results.
Of course, it’s not as easy as I make out and there will be challenges along the way but quick fixes are exactly that, a quick fix not a long-term solution. Surely the ultimate goal is to look, feel and be healthy whilst living and loving life without restricting yourself (too much).
